My name is Kristen Messner. (
That's me, on the right - self portrait. ) I
have loved taking pictures ever since I can remember. Even at
a young age, I had a flare for the abstract. I took pictures
of carrot sticks and ceiling fans. I scared my sister, so I
could get a shot of her "terrified" look.
As I got older, I experimented
with perspective, color, and Adobe Photoshop. I realized that
I see things a bit differently than other people. I also
developed a laidback style that seems to relax the people I'm with.
This comes in handy when persuading a client to try a different
pose, or a new idea entirely. One thing that I hear a lot, is
"I know you won't make me look stupid. I trust you."
It's true - I won't. The key, is trusting your photographer,
so that you will look good in the final product.
I live in Traverse City, Michigan (the other city by the bay). It's pretty much paradise when it comes to on-location photography. My friends and family "graciously" put up with having my
camera in their faces all the time. I can't help it though. Who better to
photograph, than the people closest to you?
I love music, and prefer
to have it playing during photo shoots. It helps to set the
mood that I'm attempting to capture. The whole process should
be a good time. If you're not having fun at your photo shoot,
you're not doing it right. Everyone deserves to be the center
of attention once in a while. Everyone needs to feel special.
So enjoy it!
Is there anything else you're
wondering about? Any burning questions you're dying to ask me?
Email me, or give me a call. I'll be happy to talk to you
about your vision. If you don't already have a vision, you
might by the end of our conversation...
